Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa and is situated in the heart of the wine lands with amazing old Cape Dutch architecture, surrounded by some of the oldest oak trees to be found anywhere in South Africa.  The University of Stellenbosch is situated in the centre of town, attracting over 17000 thousand students each year. The University is surrounded by many local pubs, clubs and restaurants all in walking distance of each other. Stellenbosch is also known as one of the safest town in the Western Cape making it very popular for students coming from all over the world.

Accommodation in Stellenbosch can be difficult to find due to the size of the town and the amount of students, which arrive every year. There are some simple rules when looking for accommodation, which will make the search easier.

• Remember January – February is the busiest time as all the students are looking for accommodation
• Make sure you read your lease agreement/ contracts very carefully

• If you are using accommodation options from www.gumtree.co.za make sure you see the place and people before you hand over your money and sign contracts.
