Mountain Biking in Tulbagh

A weekend in Tulbagh is a great way to get away from the buzz of the city. This little town has stunning views, charming Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture and of course superb wines and gourmet restaurants. The surrounding mountains provide great venues for outdoor activities and shelter the historic town from gusty winds. Mountain bikers will find a variety of trails and many ways to relax and indulge after the cycle.

There are many trails of moderate difficulty in is area, so you can just grab your bike and start exploring. Maps of the area are available in the tourism office on Church Street.

The Silwerfontein Trail takes you roughly along the shores of Voëlvlei Dam. Shady forest sections and stunning views of the lake and the valley make this a pleasant and rewarding cycle. The ride consists of mostly jeep track and gravel and is a relatively easy 2 hour ride. The Dam is southwest of Tulbagh and you can start your ride at the Silwerfontein Farm.
