Life changing.

I haven´t been here very long, so its hard to talk of life changing experiences, especially the theatrical or reality-tv obsessed kind, but , so far, Cape town has been life-changing for me. Or at least, its given me the thoughts that I need to change my life.

You see, its all very different here, and now im taking about the social life. The way people are, the way they interact, the guy and girl game, the mind-set, its all, very very different from back home, ( Emmen, Netherlands ) and its forcing me to rethink who I am.

How do I explain this further. Without being negative, so far i´ve found myself to fall into being surrounded by shallow people, apart from my friends I knew from before. You could buy tonnes of drinks at the bar, for people who till run away and not care a second later just because they are used to it, or a similar, financial gesture of kindness that seems to go unnoticed. Perhaps its because the idea of males treating the ladies is just more common here. I know from people who have come to NL from abroad, that the idea when you buy a drink / meal etc, everyone actually pays their part is strange. Here, plenty times, I´ve been left with a dinner bill in front of me, with no one giving any intention of even contributing at all.  And if im ever doing dinner with another guy and some others, they even push the fact that we pay solely.

Don´t get me wrong. I know everyone isn´t like this. Or im cheap or so, but its just different, thats all. Its not that way. So when you are used to a different way, you really have to think about how kind you are, and your expectations back, and no, not of a go-home-with-me way, just a friendly way.

I´ve got alot of thinking to do about my new ´friends´. Who cares, and whos just used to being pampered by a culture that its very normal in.

Anyway, im out !

i still love it here. Great night !!!!!
