I promised I would respond to you after my experience on the river I just apologise that it has taken me a bit longer to do so but the return to work has been rather busyI am the fearfulnervous one for whom the thought of paddling down a river did not make the top of my holiday list of things to do it would not have made my list of things to do before I die either but as I found myself not wanting to miss out on an opportunity which could go either way in terms of enjoyment there I was signed up for the trip which turned out to be one of the best adventure experiences of my life I completely reiterate what Steve had to say but added to the fact that I was apprehensive somewhat fearful an experience such as we had being woken up on the very first night on the river at 2am to move camp because the river was rising did not do much to make me feel relaxed However Sas stayed calm took the wise decision to move us to higher ground both he Kelvin executed a swift mostly painless move with all of us pitching into help then still presented a slap up breakfast next morning as if all was well perfectly normal that did much to calm my nerves though I have to admit getting breakfast down that morning was difficult as I was filled with trepidation of what the river might have in store Again my fears turned out to be unwarranted I felt safe in the competent hands of our guidesSo yes a big thankyou to Umkulu the organization was spectacular but I think it is also largely the people that are on the ground that make a huge difference so thankyou to you for your efficient pleasant face to Umkulu on an email front meeting you in person at base camp also a HUGE thank you to Sas Kelvin without whom this experience would not have been quite as pleasantI also have to commend the meals that were prepared I dont think I have eaten that well anywhere never mind on the banks of a river with a simple pot on a fire truly an incredible featThanks for everythingMelissa
